Some good Open Cup action today. Sporting KC and Houston had quote a match, ending SKC 3-1 HOU. Can't wait to see them in MLS next time.

I couldn't find any of it on TV, though. Too bad. I did watch the FIFA Beach World Cup that I recorded, that is a fun diversion with TONS of shots.

Open Cup sucks, I wish they would make it a legitimate cup or ditch it altogether. I always want to lose when we play in it.

I think the cup is on YouTube almost, thats the only place ive ever watched a game.

It's funny, the Chicago Fire make a big deal out of it, probably because they think its the only thing they have a chance to win...until Drogba.

Yes, YouTube is where I watched that match. What would make it a "legitimate cup"?

Legitimate cup would be more FA Cup style, you purchase home games too which is a complete joke. It really should just be abandoned or a USL/NASL and below only cup.

Why even have these domestic cup tournaments? They do not even determine the best club in each country is. Look at the FA Cup in England. In the last 20 years, One of the big 4, well now 5 really, have won the thing 18 out of the last 20. In the US, the US Open Cup has been dominated by MLS teams for the last 15 or so years.

Well, I've always seen it as our FA-cup equivalent. I'm sure some procedures are different (like, there seems to be a lot of regionalization of the early fixtures), but it's the same idea. Teams in all the various divisions in a knockout tourney.

So, I'm not sure I understand.

As far as just MLS today, RSL plays SKC. RSL can't leapfrog anyone in the standings if they win, but Sporting KC will be one point clear of the Western table if they win.
