All sports are irrelevant to those that do not follow them.

I suppose high school tournaments at a state level are irrelevant if you don’t happen to live in that state. In any sport.

No. It's great for fans of the teams involved and it's a money maker for CONCACAF and, in particular, the US and Mexican federations.

CONCACAF is a joke. The ref of the Gold Cup final is a joke. He watches Guardado flop on top of Altidore, force his head into the ground and choke McKinney seconds later. Then he misses a handball not long after.

Congrats to the Mexican side for their victory. I look forward to our next match.

If CONCACAF and CONMEBOL come to an agreement (which is predicted) on a ‘combined COPA’, the relevance of the Gold Cup will no longer be an issue - as the last one would be in 2021.

That will be very cool indeed, and it makes sense since we share similar time zones. The road to the World Cup could get a lot tougher for the US though, depending on the arrangement.

If they were to merge for qualifiers (and alloted spots) for the WC, but I don’t think that is likely from what I’ve read. It could certainly get interesting; but in terms of tournament play, they would simply reorganize, rebrand and replace the Gold Cup (which came into existence in ‘91 by replacing the CONCACAF Championship) with a ‘combined COPA’ which would definitely be more competitive (since many feel the Gold Cup is ‘irrelevant’ anyway - lol).

Yeah I'd put the CAF 3rd. Concacaf would be 4th and AFC would be 5th.
