That's what happened to the Sounders. The owners wanted to change the name and didn't even include Sounders as their possible choice but left a write-in spot. Something like 60-70% of the ballots had Sounders written in.
As I have always said, when you think of Seattle soccer you think of Sounders soccer

Oooohhh...Also, I forgot....A second team in the New York City area. Possibly bring back the NY Cosmos??? Put them in Flushing or Brooklyn??

Word is that Vancouver is pretty much a lock with either St. Louis or Portland getting the other bid.

Yeah, thats a great idea considering the current NY franchise has done so well.
In all seriousness, NY is in the lower portion in the league in attendance. They dont need a second franchise in NY anytime soon.
