I understand Seattle will get a soccer team this year. Not the minors, but MLS. It got me thinking about some other cities.

Current markets:
Seattle
San Jose
Los Angeles
Chivas USA(LA)
Denver
Salt Lake City
Dallas
Houston
Kansas City
Chicago
Columbus
Toronto
New York
New England(Foxboro/Boston)
Washington,DC

Future expansion:Philadelphia(in 2010)

Possible areas I thought of:

Portland,OR
San Diego
Oakland
San Francisco
Phoenix
San Antonio
Miami(Miami could give it another try)
Minneapolis-St.Paul

Vancouver and Montreal, I can take that. St. Louis could work too.

Possible names for teams if in those cities.

FC Vancouver: Fog
FC St. Louis: Jazz
FC Montreal: Olympiques

My vote goes to San Antonio. Large latin presence, close to Mexico, and they could actually use the Alamodome for it.

San Antonio has my vote.

El Paso could be another place for an MLS team too.

El Paso is largely Mexican and they have a Primera Division team a couple minutes away in Juarez.

Building a "Soccer Specific" stadium within a couple years is a requirement of being awarded a MLS franchise now.

Yeah, the Alamodome is outdated. Even the NFL wouldn't want a team playing in there.
Unless the Alamodome gets a complete make over, it's not gonna happen.

San Antonio should have an MLS franchise and I believe it will within the next 10 years. But they will play in their own stadium.
