Yes, 'anything' can happen in football, and there have been plenty of surprises in the past, but I think the semis is a bit high an aim for the US...England, Germany, Spain, Argentina, France, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Ivory Coast, Holland...all of these teams are a lot better than the current US squad, and there are a number of teams on the same level too. So to make the semi-finals you lot are going to have to play out of your skins and be very lucky!
Not saying it can't happen, just that it is very unlikely to happen.

I would not be surprised if they did. If they take first in their group they would have to get by Ghana then either France, Uruguay or Mexico in the quarters. All are very beatable. Final Four can be very possible if they win their group.

Yes, I'll be biased and say they will. Especially if Davies is healthy but that's a big if

Because it gets it right up those English commentators, supporters and journalists who have already crowned England as winners before the first ball is kicked. Watching the jingoistic English eating humble pie and look for scapegoats is one of the most entertaining parts of the world cup.

Lets see .... last time it was all Ronaldo's fault and a few years ago it was all Beckham's fault. Whose fault will it be this time I wonder?

You've already sacked your scapegoat George Burley. The fact is Scotland were not good enough, but i suppose that would be Englands fault as well would'nt it.I laughed my head off when Scotland failed to qualify, and everyone in the pub cheered, it was great.

The US are not going to win the group...as much as you want them to it just isn't rational to think they have any thing more than a very slim chance. I can't believe I'm talking up England's chances but come on!

The difference is that we don't actually expect to qualify whereas England actually imagine they can win it
