look at how simple this is you half wit

1. people claim that messi is the best soccer player in the world
2. i use this claim to
a. point out reasons as to why soccer is unpopular in the US by using examples of popular american sports (nhl, nba, nfl) and their best players to compare what THEY do vs what soccer's best does in big games

jordan in nba's biggest stage = winner
tom brady in nfl's biggest stage = winner
gretzky in nhl's biggest stage = winner
messi in soccer's biggest stage = ZERO GOALS, loser

is it really that hard to follow? probably too late to wish this but i hope you never procreate. holy hell.

You can't even comprehend what you read. You're in no position to call out others.

Furthermore, Messi not scoring in the World Cup is not an indictment of the sport at all. After all, goals were scored regardless. By your logic, that means there was skill/athleticism on display.

secondly, there are no cb or linebacker blitzes in soccer. there are no defensive schemes in soccer. 3-4, 4-3 etc. opposing coaches don't spend weeks developing specific defensive assignments/schemes/strategies targeted at a player the way it is done for Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. soccer players don't get tackled by 6'4 250 lb linebackers.
the quarterback position has no equal in all of sports, it is hands down THE hardest position to play in team sports. all they get, at most, is 3-4 steps to a. look at the defense b. look at each possible receiver c. look at the rush d. make a decision to throw a pass, throw it away, run or hand off.
4 seconds tops is what they get to do all of this, all while having behemoths trying to squash him.

Yeah cos no teams develop strategies to stop messi or ronaldo. They simply treat them like any other player. You knowlegde of soccer is minimum and you simply don't know the sport. and ehm every play starts with the center! owned at your own sport

look at the bolded sentence again, particularly

"the way it is done" which is followed by 2 of the best quarterbacks in football.
nba teams spend time preparing for kobe bryant, lbj.. nhl teams spend time preparing for ovechkin and crosby. and i know teams prepare for messi in advance as well
none of that compares to what goes into getting ready to face peyton manning.

and under no circumstance does messi face the pressure and attention that peyton manning gets. ever.

ever

"by your logic"
you like to twist people's words or make up your own retarded scenarios because you never learned proper reading comprehension. i don't mince words einstein, i've clearly stated that there is no real athleticism in soccer, and scoring in soccer is comparable to getting a strike in bowling.

and like many soccer fans in here have already acknowledged, in soccer it is more about skill than athleticism

as is the case in bowling. or golf.

and my pointing out that messi didn't score was mainly to point out one of many reasons as to why soccer isn't popular in the US.

so for the 9384023948th time, i repeat myself:
in the nba, nhl, nfl etc, the game's biggest stars elevate their games in the game's biggest stage (Jordan, Montana, Brady, Gretzky etc)
in soccer, the game's biggest star (messi) goes scoreless in the game's biggest stage (world cup).
so to recap:
jordan in nba finals = winner. gretzky in stanley cup = winner. brady in super bowl = winner.

messi in world cup= scoreless loser.

now log off for 2 weeks.

You don't know what "athleticism" even means. Go look it up instead of calling me an "idiot" or "retarded" because you can't properly handle your childish rage.

Americans do not train to become great soccer players and the greatest US athletes are not interested in becoming soccer players.

Children outside the US are conditioned from an early age to play soccer, heavy emphasis is placed on intensive soccer training in their academics, hence, political strife and culture are governing factors. In the US, children play recreational soccer, if at all, whereas, baseball, basketball, and football, dominate the sports arena in every fashion

Americans root for their teams, Europeans root for political class/religious structures, which explain the intensity, fanatic rage and violent nature associated with this game, this behavior is cool to the Europeans, but not cool in America

Soccer briefly gains some interest when US competes, then the temporary frenzy diminishes until the next cycle…. soccer is not apt to ever become mainstream America ,hence the majority of the people that follow soccer in the US are foreigners.
