Smile Need some advice on where to live

Hello all-

I'm considering a job offer in Maxton, NC. As such, I've been researching areas in NC to live within a 45 minute commute of work. However, I was wondering if anyone had any insight or thoughts about towns/cities in South Carolina that would be within 45 minutes of Maxton. Also, anyone live in SC and work in NC? Pros? Cons? Taxes? I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

The only really nice area within 45 min of the city of Maxton would be the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area of NC---and it really is a primo area with good schools, shopping, medical care, and lots of housing choices. Pinehurst is a world class golf resort and retirement area, but there are lots of options for families and younger couples as well. Take US15/501 north directly into Pinehurst--probably about a 30 min drive.
