I haven't been down there in a few years, but have family very close to Reevesville. There may have been development down there since I was there last, but it's a small, quiet, slow, southern town. Does that sound like what you're looking for?

Yes, I can relate to the cost of living up North. We're in NJ. My husband and I have thought about moving South, too, but SC or at least the area near Reevesville is a little too slow for us. This is why I asked what type of lifestyle you're looking for. If you're used to living fast paced, living in Reevesvill will me a drastic change. Reevesville itself has no restaurants or shopping. There are only houses there, it's wide-open country. I think there is a gas station and a little store there, but that's about it for businesses. It's very quiet and from what I remember the people are friendly. There are a few restaurants and stores within about 15 minutes or so, but for a larger selection of shopping & dining you'd probably need to travel about a half hour or so. Depending on what you do for a living you may be able to find a job in Orangeburg which is about 1/2 hour 45 minutes away (I think) or Columbia or Charleston which are each about an hour away in opposite directions of Reevesville.

There is a different kind of lifestyle and then there is a DIFFERENT kind of lifestyle. Nothing in SC is fast paced and even our largest city (Columbia) will probably seem small and slow paced in comparison to where you are now. Columbia has a population of around 120,000. Reevesville (pop. 240, give or take) is roughly 15 minutes outside of Summerville, a town of about 30,000, which is about 30 minutes from Charleston. Yes, I would say it is all country. Don't know what kind of job you are looking for, but I wouldn't call Summerville a "hub" of job opportunities. Most of the people who live in Summerville work outside of the county in Charleston. You could find yourself having to make long commutes for work.

I too would like to know about Reevesville. I saw a beautiful home that would be ideal for a funeral home. Can anyone tell me if a funeral home is needed in Reevesville? I would greatly appreciate any help.
