Smile Moving Next Friday

WOW!!! I must thank all who have posted such wonderful comments, opinions and advise about moving to Columbia. I am going to be heading out 1 week from today, and am ssssooo looking forward to it. Right now I live and work in Detroit, MI. but have always been a HUGE lover of travel and adventure. I am from Toledo, OH but have lived throughout the U.S in some of the most beautiful, charming and yes some pretty backwords places. I am very intrigued by Columbia as I look for beauty, friendliness, and cultural diversity in somewhere that I am considering moving too. I have heard so many amazing things about Columbia that I cannot wait to leave on Friday.

I do have a couple questions that I have not heard much about though... One is How are animals treated there? I have a dog that I am moving with me. Do places frown on having dogs where you live? What about dog parks, groomers, Vets etc.

And if anyone is considering a move to any of the following and has questions I would be happy to help... Denver, CO., New Orleans, LA. Auburn, AL. Richmond, VA. Phoenix, AZ.

Depending on the size of your dog, there are many apartments that allow pets. I don't know of any dog parks around Columbia, but I haven't been here very long. There are tons of vets, groomers, doggie daycare places, etc.

Best of luck to you on your move. My wife and I moved here from SE Michigan last November, we love it here.

I think there is a dog park at Saluda Shoals Park in Irmo and they have "Bark to the park" every year (or more than once a year) at Finlay Park in downtown Columbia.
