Dylan's Daddy is on a distinguished road
Default Housing Market in Florence

My wife and I are getting close to making a move to Florence. We came down last weekend for the very first time and I will have to say we were both pleasantly surprised. We currently live in N-Mississippi and prefer a slower pace. Everyone was friendly and the pace seemed very comfortable. I am excited. However I was concerned about the housing cost. Everthing I have read indicates a low to moderate cost of living. The biggest cost is your home. We are looking for a 2200-2500 sq ft home new to 7 years or so to have the obvious larger kitchens, w/i closets etc... Everything we saw (worked with real estate agent) all day Saturday with a 1/2 acre or so lot is close to $300K. We currently have a 2 year old 2700 sq ft French Country on 2 acres we built ourself and didn't come close to $300K. Can anyone give me some advice on some area's to live. Really want in a golf course development if that is possible. Dylan is my 3 yr old golden boy and he needs room to run in the backyard and really some tree's for shade. Any help would be really appreciated!

There is a house on the Governor's Run golf course near Lamar, SC currently listed for $235K. It is a 15 minute drive from Florence. However, the public schools in Lamar are not that good. There are many good private schools in Florence.

New homes in Florence in the $200-250K range are usually on 0.3 acre lots. Homes zoned for Sneed Middle School and West Florence High School is the best area. Good luck with your move!
