I would say that it is still country. They just got a brand new Walmart last year. Not a whole lot out that way other than that. The town itself is pretty small, after that it is pretty much countryside. There are a few new developments, in fact my neighbor just moved to Moncks Corner a couple weeks ago. It's an okay area and it is not as expensive as Charleston, but it's out there and if you need shopping places other than Walmart you'll be doing some driving.

It is building up pretty quickly. The way things are going you may be able to find work in Summerville or farther up the highway where there are new industries coming in. Summerville and Goose Creek are only 20 minutes from there. Charleston is 40-45minutes. The problem is right now it's all back roads no highway. The lakes are right there and there is a lot to do if you like the out doors(boating,fishing,camping,hiking,ect....). I like the area. If you have kids however, the schools are not the greatest. That may change in the future.

The lakes in Moncks Corner can you swim in them? I was looking on the internet at homes and it seems they have alot of new homes being built.
I love outdoors, and wish to leave florida.

It sounds like a real nice place, thanks. Also I read there is an Abbey in Monck with beautiful grounds open for the public.

I once was a friend of Bill Harrellson who lived in Monk's Corner. We are both well into our aging now and I would like to talk to him once more if he is still around.
Could someone let him know where to find me.
