Downsizing Again near NC/SC State line ? (Conway, Georgetown: how much, home)

Thirty years in our current home.
Now want to downsize again.
This time to conserve energy.

Want to be able to WALK to the store.
But also want to be able to walk our two dogs.

Ideally to move to a town near the NC/SC state line,
prefereably in SC.

Ideally not too far to drive to get to SC State Parks on the coast.

No kids at home so school is no problem.

Looking to hear about great ideas !

Wow, you've got so many choices. Conway, Calabash, Tabor City, Longs, Loris...walk to town, walk the dogs...depends on how big and how much. We've moved here and love taking our dogs to the beach during the off season...our backyard is fenced in and only have to worry about copperheads...(the dogs like to play with snakes and moles). Prices are getting crazy but seemed to have quieted the last few months so it's bargain hunting time.

Which of these towns did you look at seriously,
and which was your "final" choice ?

We ended up in Georgetown at first...what amazing and fun people...but the taxes were high so now we're here (four years in October) in Litchfield...south end of the beach.

Hi, my husband and I are looking into moving to Loris or Conway. Schools are not an issue. Any recommendations??

Here are a few negatives about Conway:

Whitmore Park school
Traffic on Hwy 501 during summer

I personally love Conway and Loris. Loris is a very small town but it's lacking the appeal that Conway has.

Both Conway and Loris still maintain that hometown feel of a charming Southern town, which they really are..
