Question Private or public school??

Well, I have to say before watching 20/20's piece on public school systems nationwide , I never questioned the quality of education. Now I have second thoughts whether the public school will be able to give her the best education? From what I gather, being close to the nc stateline (upstate) area, schools here have a higher rating than those near sc capital? I also realize that each school varies greatly depending on a lot of factors. I'm not bias since this is all new to me.

My 4 yr old daughter is on a pre-k waiting list in Clover district. In the meantime, I will be doing a lot of research and school scouting this year.

I would appreciate any thoughts on either system, private vs public.

I did not see the 20/20 piece, no need to, PS's are sick. We have homeschooled for about 18 years. I would never, never, ever put my child or grandchild in a PS. the government wants your child! They want your child indoctranated in the world system and all the garbage that comes along with it. Why do you think the government and educators are against homeschooling? because it's a treat to PS's. It's a threat to the empire system. Who wants their child to grow up to be like a Hillery Clinton or Al Gore? God help us! If your a stay at home mom HS your child they will love you for it and so will you.

We put our son through a private Christian school from pre-school to high school graduation (in FL), and it was worth every penny. He is 19, in his second year of college, and we are very proud of what a polite, well-educated, and moral person he has become. All of his friends from school are the same way- we NEVER had a moment's worry from any of them. After I see the way kids act and dress today, I'm so glad we made the right choice. Also, being a much smaller school (graduating class was 52), he got a lot more individual attention, and had a lot more opportunities in extracurricular activities. Here in FL, some of the big schools have as many as 7000 students in one high school. In a private school, the parents are required to get involved, and if a student has a serious violation of the rules, or flunks, they are out, period. In PS, they have to take everybody. Our decision was based primarily on our religious beliefs, but the superior education he received was a blessing, too. We are not wealthy people, and we drove old 'beaters' for years and years to make this possible.

we currently live in central florida (looking to GET OUT!) My Son is 4 yrs old and in A Private Christian School , I will not send him to a PUBLIC school in this state! Not sure i would send him to a public one in any sate but the public schools system is in shambles here in florida...
I am not a big advocate for Home schooling , but i think if one has the patients and the smarts to teach at home then by all means do so...
I have heard the public schools in South Carolina are not that great either..
but I think that goes to be said about all the SOUTH schoolS!
