Default Timeshare jobs on Hilton Head?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a career change and someone told me I'd be good at selling timeshare and that there is a lot of money to be made.

Anyone got anything to share on what the industry is like in Hilton Head? I would imagine Marriott would be a good place to try - but do they hire newbies?

I understand I need a Timeshare real estate license? Is there a course?

Have I picked the worst time of year to think about this? ie just as the summer ends?!

Any thoughts / advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Timeshare is very soft now due to the poor economy. I worked in Hilton Head selling timeshare for a while and it was OK. Coral Resorts is always looking for new sales reps. Different states have different stipulations as to licensing, South Carolina has no restrictions. You only have to be registered as a rep and will work under the in hous broker's license. That costs you nothing. Ther is no timeshare license in any state. If a license is needed it would be a realestate license and that can be obtained either through an on line course or at various schools.

Hilton Head is all about Golfing and Tennis. Ther are more golf courses and tennis courts per square mile on the island than anywhere in the world.

Hope this helps you..
Good luck.

People are not going to be buying timeshares in this economy. There is one brand new time share development on the north end of Hilton Head and another on the south end, neither seems to be selling (of course, the one on the south end only has an office, no buildings yet).

In the good market money could be made but it was the old 80/20 (probably more like 90/10) rule just like with real estate.
