We are thinking of moving to either N.C. Tenn. or S.C. so what are the good and bad things about S.C. We are most interested in the Greenville and Spartanburg area. What about jobs, homes under $100,000, no kids so I need to know about schools. Thanks

I've been living in Greenville/Spartanburg for 12 years and love it. You should be able to find a decent home at $100,000 or just below it. There is a lot of engineering, manufacturing and healthcare around here. What fields are you and your husband in? Greenville/Spartanburg has a lot of positives, plenty of stuff to do, nice weather, great people, not far from charlotte or the mountains. It's a great place to live. Come visit, I'm sure you'll agree. Negatives? I don't really know of any.
While any growing Sunbelt city has its fair share of sprawl (haphazard, poorly-planned, low-density, leap-frogging, auto-dominated growth), Greenville has a bit more of it than other metros its size in the South. Although that's a negative, it isn't the worst of negatives that exist out there, by far. South Carolina has many positives--the weather, the friendliness of the people, the geographic diversity, natural recreation, rich history, etc. I could go on and on and on.
As far as jobs, it will depend on your particular field. Of course, with healthcare you can get a job anywhere, but in other industries, one city may be a better fit overall. Houses are pretty much affordable all thoughout the state, although the coast (Charleston, Beaufort/Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach area) is where it is most expensive.
