Default This just makes SC seem incredibly backwards

SC GOP candidates asked to sign 'sex pledge' - Video on msnbc.com

The sex pledge. The SC Republican Party of Laurens County requires that if you want to join their party and be on the ballot, you must:
  • Never have had pre-marital sex
  • Be faithful to your spouse, and your spouse cannot be a person of the same gender
  • Promise to never look at porn again
Seriously? Is that really how people in SC think? I just can't believe this is real. I mean, these Republicans want smaller government, yet they want to approve of EVERY little aspect of people's sex lives, it seems. It's 2012. Ridiculous.

Don't blame me. I voted for the Democrat in the last Governor's election.

Yep because I thought Sheheen was the more qualified candidate over Haley. Going off some of the latest things Haley has done, i'd say I was right.

It is backwards; no seemingly about it!

SC lags in just about everything that a state can be ranked in...yet the voters here can't figure out why!

Yes, because one rural county in SC is indicative of how the entire state thinks.

I'm conservative, and it's crazy beyond belief.

Of course it's illegal, and they can't actually stop a candidate from registering so it's really just small town political nonsense, making noise for the sake of making noise.

Their sheriff knocked someone up (that wasn't his wife), took her to NC for an abortion, and they found out. They got their panties in a wad, and decided to pass a resolution that is completely meaningless.

This is just another step in the GOP's attempt to take us down the road to a theocracy: the American Christian answer to Islamic law. Go, Dems!

Just to clear up any confusion (since some people love to make news like this seem larger than it really is), this proposal was NOT supported/endorsed by Republican representatives from Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, or any other county in South Carolina EXCEPT Laurens, therefore it is not "proof" of anything statewide or party-wide.
