After looking at some of the threads , Anderson seems to be a reasonable place to live, with homes around 150,000 with 4 bedrooms and at least 2000 sq. feet. What are some of the areas/developments names in a safe neighborhood. We are both over 62 and under 66. Any info on Anderson would be appreciated i.e., car insurance rates, tax millage rate, senior discounts, home owners ins, flood insurance etc.

My husband and I are thinking about relocating to S.C. next year. We have two special needs son's, autitic and asbergers. Weare looking for a school system or boarding type school that will meet their needs. We were thinking about the Greenville or Columbia area. We are a white couple, almost 60yrs. old and are raising two eight yr. olds who are black. I am a Occupational Therapy Assistant working in the school system in Fl., but we live in south east Georgia near a military base. I would like to continue to work in the school system but did a traveling job this last summer and could do that to begin with. My husband would like to work in anything but food service or sales. He took a early retirement from Sears several years ago, so he is open to most anything.
Any helpful replies would be great.

Default Retired , moved to Anderson S.C.

We retired here to get away from the snow , cold , & ice . We are selling our 4 bedroom , 3 bathroom , 2600 sq ft house on 2 + acres $159900.00 , only cause were moving to lake from property . Our house taxes annually less than $500.00 , house insurance less than $500.00 . We love the area , lots to do , places to go , cost of living quite less than most places while we have great weather , reasonable priced food & utilities , many , many breaks for seniors . Let us know if you want to hear more . Happpy in Anderson County , S.C.
