Low Country/Pee Dee Region
I am looking for any information about the town of Johsonville. It is located about 40 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, and about 20 miles from Conway. I am interested in a new community being built there called Persimmon Fields. Anthing about the town or community or surrounding areas would be helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Well....Johnsonville is SMALL with basically nothing there...very rural. Its in Florence County and is about 35 miles from Florence, 45 miles from Myrtle Beach, 35 miles from Georgetown, and about 95 miles from Charleston. So this is how far you'll have to drive to go somewhere other than a convenience store, fastfood restaurant, or one of the few downtown private shops.
Johnsonville and Hemingway (Williamsburg County) which are right next to each other and basically the same are not towns that people usually move to unless some kind of job takes them there. There are/were a few factories there but I'm not sure if they're still there or not. These little rural towns usually have people that grew up there and their farms and land have been given to them, so they're not going anywhere. Like anywhere else, small or large, they have drug issues and poverty, but there's some good, down-home, country folks there.
Just for reference: The entire Pee Dee area of S.C. is sand, pine trees and deer. :-)
FWIW: I am not familiar at all with the new community being built there.

We recently moved into the new community of Persimmon Fields. It's a new community that is just getting off the ground. We love it there. Yes, Johnsonville is a very small rural community, but compared to living between Washington, DC and Baltimore, this is a blessing. Persimmon Fields offers three different options for building. You can pick a lot and the builder (whose been wonderful to work with), builds the home you choose from several models. They have lots you can purchase and you pick the builder/home you wish to build but it has to be at least a 2000 sf home I think. Then they have the lots where they are modulars/pre fab homes.

Thanks for your answers. I mentioned in a previous post that we bought a lot in the Pembrook section of Persimmon Fields last year. We may end up building on our lot in Johnsonville or we are also interested in Summerville. Please let me know, log cabin how things go at Persimmon Fields as I am very interested in what progress is made there and it seems harder to get information about that area as it does about the more popular places.

Johnsonville
Sorry for taking so long to reply Ladybug.
I would suggest you contact Stephanie Cagle (she lives in Johnsonville) and works for Exit Grand Strand Properties. There is alot for sale in the area and it runs the gammit from top to bottom. We don't have children in the schools but our neighbor who retired from PA school system moved down there and is currently a teacher at Johnsonville HS and loves it.
We love our home and the area.
If there is anything else I can answer/help with let me know.

Actually, I was told they are cypress trees I guess that's what you're gonna get though when you're in a coastal region. When I came down here from up north I thought the grass growing out of sand and not dirt was totally amazing
LOL

Ladybug and Logcabin,
Stephanie Cagle no longer lives in JVille her house is for sale. I live one house away from her on Persimmon Ford Rd.
I don't have any children in the schools here yet, my daughter is only 3. Our neighbors have kids in the schools and speak highly of them.
As far as realestate there is alot for sale in Johnsonville, in a range of prices.
Do a search on realtor.com with the zip code 29555.
We just moved here in Sept. but if I can be of any more help just let me know.
Take Care,
Chrissy

Correction
I'm not sure where the mixup came from. However, I am still living in Johnsonville with my family. My house is for sale, as we have purchased 40 acres about a mile from where we currently live. We will continue to live in our home until it sells and then we will rebuild on our farm. We do NOT plan to leave Johnsonville. My mother is retiring and building on the 40 acres with us. Her house is currently under construction.
I am a realtor and work for a local real estate office in the town of Johnsonville. If I can be of any assitance, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks!
Stephanie Cagle
