Small, Rural (esp. Waterfront) Towns in SC and other Beautiful Places/Sites
I'm pretty new to SC and am looking to go exploring. I'm from a small waterfront town in Virginia. I enjoy photography and also visiting new places. My favorite places to visit are small rural towns and places you would classify as "country." I love seeing wooded country roads, old buildings, cotton fields, and especially love life on the waterfront (docks, fishing towns, and shrimp boats!) I've been to McClellanville and loved it! I'm now looking for more places to visit. Any suggestions of places I can go to see a few shrimp boats and 2 lane roads through the country or a small town? Any suggestions you can offer are greatly appreciated! Anybody know anything about Awendaw?
I'm also open to other places to visit--scenic drives, old mills that are still standing, waterfalls, etc.--again, mostly anything that is "stuck in the past" or from many years ago OR naturally beautiful. Thanks for all the help!

If you enjoy mountains, I-26 north of Columbia is quite beautiful. There is a river gorge (name eluding me at the moment) that is incredible. Many small towns up along through there.

Awendaw is more rural and doesn't really offer any centralized town as McClellanville does. It has some waterfront communities, but you won't find anything historic, scenic, or any shrimpboats, just nice new 3000+sq ft homes. I've heard Rockville is similar, but have never been

Ware Shoals
It's a bit of a drive, but if you haven't visited Ware Shoals, you should consider it! Old mill town outside of Greenwood, SC. Very quaint little town. Small park by the river/shoals. I feel certain you would capture beautiful imagery there... Good luck!
