My husband is considering a job in Savannah. Research online has shown us that the schools in the Savannah area aren't the best. Are they any better across the border in SC? What about the taxes in SC vs. GA? Would it be feasible to commute from the area into Savannah, or is the traffic horrendous?
BIL lives in Bluffton and commutes into Savannah everyday. I don't know about the traffic, as it has never come up in conversation. Being that there really isn't much in Bluffton in the way of jobs, I would think that many might be making the Savannah commute though. As far as schools, my niece has been attending them for the last 3 years and is currently in her Senior year. As far as I know everything has been fine and they are happy with the them. I'll ask the next time I talk to them.
You might find the housing in the Savannah area to be cheaper than in Bluffton though.
From town Center in Bluffton to the Savannah downtown is a little less than an hour. Part of the way is being 4 laned so it depends on the construction delays. I think the bigger commute is from Savannah to work in SC. the biggest commute is to work on HHI and then to "Off Island" homes.
("Off Island" is always said with disapproval)
