Default For those thinking of moving to SC...

This site might come in handy when deciding on what neighborhood or area to move in. It's the SC sex offender registry.

Thanks Luvs,

I wish it had a list of names addresses and crimes so you could quickly scan down the whole bunch rather than having to click each one on.

Either that or I wish you could scan by street name as well or perhaps a radius from a certain address (you might be considering buying or renting).

Try this website, it breaks it down by street Find registered and convicted sex offenders and predators

I just recently transplanted to North Augusta. Everyone is very nice but it sure is lonely when you aren't working and there is 3 new houses for sale around me. Being the first one on the new road doesn't help with deliveries or postal service either.

Back to unpacking.
Deb

Default South Carolina # 1 Violence

They need a list for ex cons or murderers. I would find that more useful really. I don't have any kids so I think it is more important for me to know if there is someone who has murdered someone or someone who has a history of breaking and entering. Speaking of violence it appears that SC tops the list for that, so don't move here. State Rankings--Statistical Abstract of the United States--Violent Crime Per 100,000 Population - 2004

wow. The sex offender registry is immense for Greenville. Even traveler's rest has some big numbers.
I will miss the detail, too. Here in NJ, since Megan's law was passed, our sex offender registry has a LOT of info... tattoos, scars, a description of their 'modus operandi", and exactly what they did, so you can determine their level of risk (in other words, they list if it was a guy who was 18, and a girlfriend that was 16, whose parents reported it, as opposed to, say a 34 year old man with a 12 year old relative, etc.)

You can see detail on the SC state registry. When you click on the offender it lists the statue they violated and those statues are always clear and by age if it's pertinent. Like < 12 or <16 years old etc. Just scroll down and you can see.

Everyone in FL claims they were all "statutory rape" cases and it's not true at all, they just want it to be. In fact in Fl statutory rape doesnt exist but it was replaced with a special statute for the older one being over 24 and the younger one being....I forget...I think 17.

When you read the statutes you can see there is no way that they are getting accused "wrong". Especially after watching Dateline To Catch A Predator

Default I Told 'Yall !!

SEE !! Anytime people accept a high level of bigotry and hatred, it ALWAYS trickles down to women and children eventually being unsafe.

When I was in SC, a LOT of all that violence was really Domestic Violence. (Black and White.) Women being beat up and down by Neaderthals then going back to those dunderheads for more.

Likewise, SC is currently experiencing an "emergency" lack of beds for homeless women and families.

There seems to be a lack of non-profits ... people historically depending on the church to take care of "social problems" ... and all too often, discovering that the same attitudes and problems are in the homes of those they seek help from.

Seems like the State Government and other funding sources need to open up the purse strings so that more education can occur around this and the underlying problems associated with intimacy, "Manhood", frustration, and "Privilege .

Two women at a truck stop I was at broke down when I began listening and questioning them. Seems it must be woven into the culture because both smiled when the younger sighed and said, "Oh .... but I love him."

So ... Ricky ... your point?

I guess you would have us think that all the problems have been solved now? No more crime? No more violence. No more Domestic Abuse? No more drug gangs ... no more internalized oppression ... no more stupid "thugs" listening to Gangsta Rap and shooting each other? No more racial hostility either, eh Ricky?

What town you live in? Please tell me because if you say "yeah, dat's right" to any or all the above, ... then I REALLY want to stay away from you and that town!
