Default Info. on Marion/Nichols

I'm taking my fourth trip to SC next week to hopefully find a house. Does anyone know anything about Marion or Nichols? Thanks

Yes, they are less than 10 minutes from my house. They are both very quiet, small towns (as is the one that I live in). Everyone knows each other, strong Baptist faith, etc. Marion has for the past couple of years, the highest unemployment rate, this due to the decline of the textile industry. Plants continue to shut down and with it, so do stores. There is a Walmart, McDonalds, Burger King in Marion. Nichols is even smaller, has nothing (other than charm), is on the way to Mrytle Beach, that's about it.
Now, if you are retiring and thinking of moving to either of these towns, then it might be worth looking into. I think it depends on what it is that you are looking for.

Thank you for the info.

How long would you say they are from Myrtle Beach because I may have to commute there everyday. According to google maps it says and hour or more.

Are you from there or did you move from another state?

I'm sorry, I only check this forum once or twice a week, sorry for the delay.

The google maps are correct, it is approximately one hour from Marion/Nichols area.

No, I am not from this area, I grew up in S. Florida and moved up here in my mid 20's (my husband is from this area).

I live in Lake View, a very small town, not sure if it even qualifies!
