I don't think it is that big a deal here...see mixed couples often around.

Getting good paying jobs might be difficult, well good paying compared to up north.

I would think the only places you would find any discrimination would be in much smaller towns and to be honest I think ANY newcomers would feel like outsiders in those places.

We've been a mixed couple for 25 years and have lived in 6 different states including NC and SC, I don't know how this is a problem unless you are in some back woods hick area. We are currently in Myrtle Beach.

There are probably more mixed couples in SC than in NY. I think you'll be happy in any urban area in SC. If you have other things you're looking for in an area, just let us know what interests you have.

mixed couples are not uncommon in the south. 98% of all people will have zero issue with this. (ok..maybe 95%) Check out Columbia, Irmo, Lexington. Good job markets and decent size towns smack in the middle of the state. Closer to the coast Orangeburg, Summerville, Charleston, Monks Corner. You could also consider Augusta, Ga which is just on the other side of the Carolina line. Probably less than 2 hours from Columbia.

Both columbia and augusta are good choices. There 50 mins away from each other. Augusta is 2 hours & columbia is 3 hours to atlanta.
