family camping
Hello,
I'm looking for personal opinions on family campings in South Carolina. We will be travelling to the states from the Netherlands in the summer of 07' and are looking for nice places to spend some quality time with our 3 kids.
Any tips?

The Aiken State Natural Area in Aiken, SC has 2 campgrounds. One is "primative" with no water or electric hook-up, and the other has water, electric, and a bathroom with showers.
It is in a state park, and has places to fish and rent a canoe or kyak.
Town is approx. 15 minutes away with museums, shops, and a 2100 acre area for hiking.

And if you make it up into North Carolina check out Stone Mountain state park (near the town of Sparta) . Beautiful trails, rushing trout stream, gorgeous waterfall. And the bath house is brand new in the campground. It is one of my favorite places

Paris Mountain State Park has a small lake for fishing/boating, hiking trails, camping, etc. It is only 8 miles from downtown Greenville, SC and very close to th NC mountains. A hidden gem.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Table Rock State Park. It's as close to mountains as you're going to get in SC, and should be a bit cooler in the summer than the rest of the state. We've never camped there, but we rented a log cabin (built in 1935!) and had a great time. It's all the way to the western edge of SC. Hope you have a nice trip; post your experiences for us!
