Default Speed Trap in Olar, SC

My son was given a speeding ticket on Oct. 13th in Olar, SC. for doing 44 mph in a 30 mph speed zone. The officer clocked him at 44 mph while he was in the 45 mph speed zone and then pulled him over as soon as he passed the 30 mph speed zone sign.

Has anyone else had a similar experience in Olar?

I've never heard of Olar, and for good reason. The town only has 237 people.

there are speed traps all over SC. many places will pull you for going 3 or 4 MPH over the speed limit. Andrews, Summerton, Paxville, Turbeville and Elliott are all places you don't want to speed through. I'm sure that there are others all over the state.

chances are, if you are going 14 over the speed limit in a town of 200 people, you are probably going to get pulled. Also, if you have out-of-state tags, you can basically guarantee that you're going to get a ticket.

seems very vague. i live in olar, but have never noticed a speed trap. i'm sure your son was still near the 44 mph mark when the officer pulled him over, regardless of where he was clocked

LOL you might want to check the date of the original post I would hope the ticket has been resolved by now.

Default Speed Trap still there.

My son and his brother were driving home from their grandmother's house in Charleston, SC through Olar and the same exact thing happened. My sons both under 18, white males, were treated very rudely by the cheif of police. It is sad that two law abiding, very good kids had such a bad experience with the police.

My son pulled over in the wrong place because he did not believe he could be the one pulled over since when he saw the speed limit sign he slowed down. He pulled off to let the police officer pass and instead got chastised by him.

What is the attitude of authority figures coming to??? Why not pick on the criminals and drug dealers. I paid the fine. I hope Olar made their quota. I will drive the highway from now on!!!
