Best advice I can give is to visit them both with a realtor and compare them. You are talking about two different regions of the state. Of course, the biggest factor would be where you could find work.

Charleston is on the coast. It's a very beautiful, historic area with lots to do. Has a nice economy. Very hot and humid in the summers and prone to hurricanes. The Greenville/Spartanburg area's a bit larger. Very family-friendly oriented and has a very nice 4-season climate. Has a low cost of living and a very strong economy. As the other posters said, it'd be VERY advisalbe to visit these areas to get you own personal feel for these areas. Good luck in your search!!!

You can find 4 bedroom 2 bathroom houses all over greenville for much less than $225,000, and they are actually nice houses in decent neighborhoods. The amount of home that your money buys in Greenville is much more than Summerville. Look at the statistics, they will give you a much better example than merely comparing two individual houses.

Ditto for Summerville. Micah, since you are a Realtor in Greenville, how about posting those stats comparing the two for us all. I'm sure the original poster could benefit greatly from it.

What about a home for $100,000 or less? 2br 2ba about 1600 sq feet, one story? That's what I'm looking for. And I would want it in Greenville or close by.

I just sold my home in Greenville. In a hot area near the airport. 1950sf that looks similar to the above photos. 3 bdr 2.5 bath/ large bonus. It's on .47 acres in a nice neighborhood with good amenities, etc. $159,900

Hope that helps as another bearing point.
