We've done a lot of research on Conway, Anderson & Easley, SC. We've been to Conway and it was a fantastic town with real estate in $150K range we really loved. But we're finding Anderson and Easley just a little less expensive but just as inviting. We are planning another trip into your wonderful state this fall to do more research but wondered can anyone shed any light on having lived in any of these areas? We will be retiring in about six years and starting our discovery now. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Easley and Anderson will be more affordable so unless you want to be near the beach, I would be inclined to pick one of those two over Conway. Anderson has a fantastic large modern YMCA, and Easley has a decent smaller one. Easley is experiencing a lot of new growth on its east side closer to Greenville which has a great downtown area you should visit.

There is a lot of beach traffic flowing through Conway all the time especially in summer so I would recommend hanging out there a few days and seeing how it is and think about it how it would impact you on a daily living thing. Traffic isn't a big issue in easley and anderson.

I spent a "retirement research" weekend in Greenville last year and had a fantastic trip. I just emailed my uncle who is from Easley to see if he can give me more info -- as I did drive through Easley last year but ran out of time to see much.

Upstate S.C. is awesome. Greenville has everything you would ever need as a "next door neighbor" city only a short drive from Easley.

Thank you all for your input. Armed with good information will always help us narrow down the search areas we intend on looking into. Your uncles view point will be greatly appreciated. We are an adaptable couple and often tend to fit in to our surroundings maybe more easily than most folks. We like people, live music and community activities. I've read here that non natives can get discouraged due to their inability to let go of what their used to in their former surroundings. This is why we ask for advice and do proper research. Thank You.
