Bluffton is a nice community close to Hilton Head Island. The downtown is small but very nice right near the May River. The homes are mostly new and in gated communities. It's very diverse and growing. The mayor is doing a great job building roads to lessen congestion. You're about 30-45 mins from the beach, but 10-15 minutes from the Tanger outlets. Savannah is only 40 minutes away.
I'm sure if you post this on the main SC forum you might get better answers, as this forum pertains more to the Charleston area.
