I'll jump in here with some info to get you started....
I don't have children so I can't comment on the best school districts. I believe that there is a list of Palmetto Award schools, by district. You can ask your realtor for information....I'm sure that is probably #1 on the list for parents relocating to SC. Regarding neighborhoods.... Hunter's Creek seems to be a popular choice for people moving (with children) into the area. Forest Hills and Creekside are two of my fav neighborhoods, completely biased opinion acknowledged I also like Stoney Point (on the lake) but it seems to skew more towards retirees, although I have seen families there as well. I highly recommend Joan Timmerman from Coldwell Banker Realty. I've worked with her on several properties and I've found her to be very honest, professional and effective in negotiating. Hope that helps to get you started. Wishing you all the best with your move!

Three school districts exist in Greenwood County:
District 50 - Greenwood
District 51 - Ware Shoals
District 52 - Ninety Six

Default Additional Questions

HI,

I know this is an old thread, but I am interested in the neighborhoods in Greenwood also. My so will be attending college at Piedmont in the fall and we are looking at renting an apartment for him or buying a house/condo. Any areas we should avoid? One example of an area that seems to have quite a few cheap condos is: Saint Kitts Ct area. Thoughts?

We are looking to stay under $75K if we buy and about $650 if we rent. Let me know if I am way off or not. Want to make sure he is in a decent (safe) area.

Mike

I would advise checking out the Greenwood County, South Carolina Crime Report map. It shows areas with concentrated areas of reported crimes and what crimes were committed.

Although I do not see any reported crime along Haltiwanger Road, I would be cautious of reported theft and theft of vehicle crimes in Rockcreek.

The condos you mentioned are in a pretty decent part of the city. I wouldn't be worried about living there. There are also rentals in the area that you might consider looking into. It would be about a 15 minute drive to Piedmont Tech from there.
