Default Christian founding according to the founders.

I pretty much ignore all of what you said. And take offense to your comment "Anyone who thinks that this nation was founded on "christian principles" is a liar." I think you need to do some more research my friend.

Lastly, with folks like CE in power in SC it will be much better than what is there now, or in the federal government for that matter. People don't like this idea because they are afraid all their perverted habits will be taken away. I say good let it happen.
Why do you try so hard to read into everything. The fact that G. W. Bush was elected twice shows me that yes this could happen in South Carolina, hence why I am scared. If I wasn't scared I wouldn't write this I would laugh at you guys. Because they can do it doesn't make a person sane. Christian churches in this country earn billions of dollars a year and it is all tax free, which shows me there are plenty of nut jobs to go along. This is article 11 of the treaties of Tripoli. Anymore research you want? Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

I was not going to respond because of your lack of in-depth research, and isolating nonauthortative quotes from some obscure document, that has no weight at all. But if your so "open minded" I would refer you to the following that puts to rest the document in question. [http://www.wallbuilders.com/resources/search/detail.php?ResourceID=5] (broken link)

The fact is, if CE is going to succeed, it needs to be focused on winning over South Carolinians.

I've read enough self-righteous statements in this thread that lead me to believe that CE is not about fixing South Carolina's problems. It's about using South Carolina as a national platform for some religious-political special interest group.

For the record, when it's all said and done, I believe:
a. CE will ultimately fail in it's goal to "take over South Carolina".
b. CE will have a negative impact on Christianity in America.

Not really. If they plan to move folks there they only need enough to influence an election in their favour.

So you decided that from a few statements? How puerile.

A negative impact on Christianity in America? I doubt it. There are others that have been at that for a long long time. I would not judge Christianity on what you read in the papers or see on TV. I would challenge you to look at the real Christian faith not presented by liberal media.

I read the piece and found it interesting until I saw who the people were who were sponsoring the site. Here is my synopsis of the that treaty according to the website. These guys believed in christianity so much but were scared to say so. Please answer this. If this is a "christian nation" where in the constitution does the word god, Jesus, Christ, appear? And if it so important that this country is based on christian principles why did they totally leave it out of the founding document? This treaty of tripoli, which saved many American sailors lives (which must not be important to you), was passed unamiously through the senate 9 years after the constitution was made. So it probably had the blessing of our founding fathers (which also must not be important to you). Last question. Who has killed the most Americans during a war? Give up. The confederacy. Yes the south not the germans or arabs.

For the record, I agree with you on item A, but disagree with you on item B.

CE will have NO impact on Christianity in America. The "christians" are doing enough to lead people away from it (i.e., Jay Bakker, son of Jim & Tammy Fay coming out saying homosexuality is not a sin....)

On thing I have found most interesting.

The South Carolina forum on this board is FULL of people wanting to move to SC, while (for example), the Arkansas forum has very little traffic at all.

Yet, SC is FULL of empty houses, foreclosures & tax sales, unemployment, poor education, and crime (leading the country in domestic crime I believe)...

while places like AR are full of new houses being built & occupied left & right, help wanted signs all over the place, top education & very low crime.

I just don't get it.
