Christian Exodus ?
Are these people crazy ? The people from the Westboro Baptist claim that they are not crazy but I would beg to differ. Just wanted to know what the locals thought of them

No one is paying them much attention. They don't seem to be having much success at all.

I'm not from SC nor do I live there, but I am involved with CE. No were not crazy, what is it that makes you think that? If you have questions I might be able to help, or I can refer you to someone that can within CE.

To I LOVE NORTH CAROLINA:
Look here: www.christianexodus.org. It seems to be the official web site of the Christian Exodus (CE) organization.
Um, if it's anything like the Libertarian attempt at taking over New Hampshire, hopefully it will die out in a few years.
The key to a thriving community is *diversity*, not walling yourself off from other views. That kind of myopic thinking only causes a society to implode, IMHO.

I'd say it's getting mixed reactions. We've discussed it briefly here, but to be honest, it's not something you hear much about. For what it's worth, my friends from Greenville refer to them as 'those bunch of nutjobs..', but my mom & grandparents have positive things to say. But for the most part, I haven't met anyone who is involved, nor have I heard it discussed for more than 30 seconds.
<rant>Personally, I'm against it on the principle that people are going to move here with the idea of 'taking over politics'. That makes me very uneasy, and I don't trust anyone who claims to want to take over my state, based on whatever perceptions they have of south carolina. </rant>

It scares me to think that their goal is to separate from the Union. For someone to "invade" a state that didn't ask for it, then force something so dramatic is absolutely without consideration for the people who *live* there.

My question has anyone taken the time to read there site, I would like to know, just what is it, that you think is considered so nuts. Everything basically as I can see is pretty much in line with biblical principals. And further more just what is it that makes them wack jobs?? Because they choose to follow the lord and thats there number #1 priority. Well now I can see why the world is the way it is. People are very quick to jump on christians and or christian principles, I wonder why that is??

Yes, I read it a while back with no preconceived ideas or opinions of what they're about. I wasn't impressed with their ideas. I'm sort of a libertarian - so I think people should be able to do what they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else (more or less). So, I think the idea of writing laws based on anyone's religion is a bad idea. I think that's the single most important thing that separates America from Iran, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc. Having said that, I don't think people involved in CE are nuts, I am just at odds with their ideas about what should be restricted in our society.

The last time I checked, South Carolina was very heavily Christian. It is basically political suicide for a candidate to be anything but Christian. So your comment makes absoultely no sense. In SC, people are not quick at all to jump on Christians; you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would be publicly critical of Christians in this state.
But if you're talking about.. say.. California, people there are quick to criticize Christian ideas, because they see the big political freight train coming. Many people feel that their liberties are constricted by the "moral majority". Don't get me wrong; most of my immediate family are strong Christians, spiritually and politically, so it's not that I don't understand, and it's not that I have some vendetta against Christians. I just disagree with their politics.
