June 10 is just around the corner now and that is Primary Election Day in SC. Runoff date is June 24,2014. Whoever wins in the primary election will be on the November 2014 ballot. It's important to vote in the primaries.

If for some reason you are going to be out of town, can't get to the polling place, disable, 65 years or older you can call your County Voter Registration Board and they will send you an Absentee Ballot. Some counties have the Absentee Ballot available for printing online.

You can check and make sure you are registered to vote at this website:

https://info.scvotes.sc.gov/eng/vote...Mode=VoterInfo

Even though South Carolina doesn't require voters to register a party, you do have to advise which primary you will be voting in as you can only vote in one.

Our votes really count in primaries and most of the time the turnout is poor since it's not a presidential election. Please take the time to go to the polls and vote or vote by absentee ballot, just vote.

We moved to SC in November 2013, registered to vote at the DMV when getting our SC driver's licenses, but don't know the qualifications here to vote. Is there a minimum residency requirement?

KathyKB, I don't think there is a minimum residency requirement, as long as you are registered 30 days prior to an election. When you got your SC Driver's license that gave you the photo ID, so it appears you are ready to head to your poll in June for the primary election.
