Default Where to go after the military?

Hello everybody...my name's Jeff. I grew up in Michigan and I've hated it ever since my first breath. I lived in Texas for about a year and then I ended up back in Michigan...and then joined the Marine Corps. and I've been in North Carolina for 3 years.

I've been to my buddies in Greenwood a couple of times and a couple of other places in the South and I can't see myself ever living anywhere but the South. I love South Carolina and I want to move down there...

So here's my question...what are some options in South Carolina? When I lived in Michigan I grew up on a farm in a little city with like 2,000 population and I want to go back to that. I want to live in a small town...but the problem is i haven't got much "southern culture," so where could I go to a small town where I can learn some of that "southern culture?"

I'm getting out of the Marine Corps. pretty soon and I'm trying to line some things up. I'd like to be close to somewhere that I can get a job, obviously, but that's not my biggest concern.

I'll be 24 when I get out so I'd like to move somewhere that isn't far from a place where I can meet some girls my age. Nightlife and such isn't a huge deal..but...I definitely need some bars and country music around.

Thanks for the help :-)

Chapin might be a good fit, and you're still close to Columbia. The rural parts of Lexington could also work.

Aiken and the surrounding areas might suit you. Plenty of open space, but town has everything. With a military background you should be able to get work in security, if that is not what you want to do Augusta is only 20 minutes away.
