Anderson , is a great place with everything you could ever want & or need & if you want to be a hermit you can live 4 or 5 miles out of town , have all the privacy in the world while less than an hour from Georgia , Greenwood , Greenville , the border of North Carolina . Low priced housing , insurance , no sales tax on food , lowest fuel tax in the nation . All the people moving here seem to have adopted the manners of the south in the yes sir , no sir . I have to say the south for the most part has some of the best mannered kids I've seen anywhere in the U.S. There are a few exceptions at whatever it may be , while at least check out Anderson , S.C.

Not really Jeff ... I haven't been down that way in a long time. I still have relatives (cousins) that live there ... it's like taking a step back in time in those little towns.

Is there anywhere I can go where it's just good ol' southern values without it getting spoiled by yankees? I'm not really much of a yankee myself, because of my momma, and I don't want to be around anyone from the North anymore.
Why do I feel the same?...

Some Yankees were raised to be polite and considerate! (I guess WV and definately PA would be Yankee, but I grew up there and was raised to respect elders and treat others as I want to be treated!)

Why is it that people seem to be under the perception that rudeness is a regional thing? I have lived in the north and the south, and the nice/not nice ratio was pretty even. Stop being so pious and self-inflated please. If you pass wind in Texas it will smell just the same as if it were passed in Rhode Island.

Where exactly did you live in the south/north? Most larger cities are going to have a mix. Maybe Visitor's rudeness is the same wherever you go,but did you ever hear of the term 'southern hospitality' for example?

Birmingham, Alabama. It is ok, but I think the whole southern hospitality thing is more of a catch phrase, like a marketing tool. Trust me though, I love the south. I lived in Vermont and people there were just as friendly and/or unfriendly as any place in the south. I have also spent a lot of time in New York and New Jersey, and can say the same for them. Often there are misconceptions that the north is rude, but it is usually misunderstandings of lifestyle. Same thing can be said about the myth that southerners marry their cousins and don't own shoes. All just misunderstandings. If you are looking for true hospitality, you should visit Ireland or Scotland sometime. I have never experienced such unconditional niceness.
