not trying to rattle feathers...
I just posted about moving to SC, but, I have a different kind of question now...I want to move down south where people are still the same way my parents raised me. My momma was from Georgia and she raised me to say yes sir no mam. I addressed everyone as miss and sir, and, everyone in my town waved at people when they drove by. I grew up in Michigan. I hate Miichigan and the general population there, so, I want to move down here and get that again.
The thing is, from reading these boards, a lot of people from the North are doing just that. They're moving to South Carolina. Is there anywhere I can go where it's just good ol' southern values and homeliness like my momma raised me without it getting spoiled by us yankees? I'm not really much of a yankee myself, because of my momma, and I don't want to be around anyone from the North anymore.

Pretty much any small town in the south, including South Carolina, is still like that. Most people moving here from elsewhere are moving to the cities and suburbs. Be careful what you wish for, though.

Waccamatt has it right, its just the larger cities and suburbs that suffer from it. The rest of the South is just how its always been, what more could one ask for?

According to your other post ... did you like Greenwood when you visited with your friend? Due West SC is located about 18 miles from Greenwood ... it's a small town ... home to Erskine College (coed so females there ) ... Honea Path and Ware Shoals are both within 20 miles of Greenwood. In these little towns everybody knows everybody but you won't find employment there. Greenville SC is less than 40 miles away (most of Ware Shoals works in Greenville) and Anderson is less then 30 miles away. I don't know how the employment is in Greenwood and Anderson. Unfortunately, these small towns are a cultural shock to some folks. I hope you find your Utopia.

Well sometimes you just gotta rattle those feathers...and if that doesn't work try rattling the cage...and as a last resort you can always ruffle some feathers.
