My family and I are planning on moving to SC. My husband wants to go to school for auto and diesel tech. He is a retired Marine and will be getting tuition assistance and housing allowance while he attends. We are from up north and the main school for this program is UTI, which is schooling Monday-Friday, for about 15 months with no breaks in between like regular colleges have for winter break (except for holidays of course). He needs to attend a school like this in order to receive the housing allowance income. Does anyone recommend a school that offers this type of accelerated degree? I've looked into the Florence darlington tech college but the program is broken into three semesters... Not continuously..
There are a lot of schools that offer auto tech programs, try checking out SC Technical College System. They have a website and it lists several of the larger tech schools in the state so you can check them out. I don't know of any programs off the top of my head like UTI...it seems like most of the tech schools operate on a regular semester schedule with breaks. My brother went to UTI in Orlando and he enjoyed it and he has a good job now.
There is a UTI in North Carolina somewhere if you guys are willing to look there - I think it is near Raleigh maybe.
Good luck with your search!
Central Carolina Tech in Sumter.
Midlands Tech in Columbia.
Flo-Darlington Tech in Darlington.
But I think you will find that most tech schools still break up their sessions into traditional semesters with small breaks in between.
