Greenville/pickens County Help
I live up here in NY and friends of ours are planning on moving down to that area. They have other friends in Easley. It looks like a very tempting place to go and I've started to consider it.
My biggest ? is the school districts, which ones are better? i have a 9 year old son who is in special ed, with speech, language & learning disabilities so this is my #1 concern. My daughter would be going in to HS. Also I don't want to live in a sub division, I'd like to have some property so we can ride dirts bikes in our back yard and have a place for my parents 43ft motorhome so they can come visit. My husband has cars & motorcycles so a large detached garage is a must. He always has projects going on. Pickens county seems good, I know there's a race track there. But I'm at a lost. Our friends have been there several times but their needs are different from ours. What towns or county/school district should I be looking in to find this? Thanks for any info you can share.

schools, etc.
Of the high schools in Pickens County, Daniel (Central or Clemson area) is the best academically. They also have a great JROTC, as does Easley HS. You'll want to look for a piece of land (or home) "in the county" and not within city limits, probably. It means you don't pay city taxes, only county, and you won't have city zoning. you'll take your trash to a recycling center, rather than have it collected at the curb, but you take it when you feel like it, or need to, not when they tell you to.
Climate is WONDERFUL, unless you enjoy snowdrifts and shoveling the white stuff. I don't miss it. average daily high temp in winter is about 50 degrees.

We live in the Easley/Powdersville area, but on the Anderson Co. side. (We straddle the county lines of Anderson and Pickens). We moved here because of the school district. It is the 'best' in Anderson Co. It's the Wren School Dist. They have the "No Child Left Behind" deal and have won award after award for their schools. We are in a rural setting, but you can be in Greenville within 20-25 min. There is still a lot of land for sale around here. I just passed about 100 acres for sale yesterday. Just up the road is 35 acres for sale. So, I believe you could find a lot of land and not have to be thrown into a subdiv. Only thing, the land does cost. We inquired about some land just down the road from us and it was listed at $1.2 million for 23 acres. Ouch! Just depends on where you look!

Could you offer any help on finding these properties of a couple of acres at $30,000 around Hwy 11?
We've been searching with no luck for the past 6 months. We particularly want to be around 11 and 25 or south towards Traveler's Rest.

try Bolding Realty. She knows the area and should be a great help! We're in Cherokee Hills, which is near where 11 crosses 178.
