Edgefield is very nice. Quiet. Does have a grocery store, I think it is BiLo, it has been a couple of years since I was out that way. I have many friends that call it home and they never complain. I lived there for 10 years (closer to North Augusta off Highway 25). I think they have Dollar General and Freds which can supply you with all the daily needs. Shopping trips to Augusta, Greenwood, and North Augusta should provide you with everything else you need including fine dining. And you are so close to the lake as the other poster described. We call it Clarks Hill, but it is offically Thurmond Lake now. And someone mentioned the Bubbas. If you like to hunt, fish, and drive big trucks then you are in flynn. In your line of work, it sounds like you probably have a nice truck. This area of SC is growing like wildfire and there are plenty of jobs (Construction, Retail, Services, and even Industry). Welcome to our area. There are a lot of professionals living in Edgefield and the community is great. The downtown square is a wonderful place and I recommend the diners there. Also, they have spent a lot of money in the past decade bringing tourism in with "old time" tourist stops, blacksmithing, pottery, and arts. What brings you to SC?

The people
My wife is originally from Florida, she doesn't like the cold weather up here in Pa, and we have made quite a few trips down south for Nascar Races and things like that, the people were always so much nicer, the country is nice, it just seemed like a good place to call home. You people have been very helpful with the information on SC.
Thanks

Hows the fuel prices down there?
I am also a die hard Carolina Panthers Fan to so that'll be cool to be closer to them as well. What's the fuel prices up to down there, regular is $3.18 here, diesel is $3.60, somethings gotta give. I have never been able to understand why diesel is so high, so we tax the truckers that bring us all our supplies? What sense does that make, then we pay for it in the end. Thats our great government!

HB, I have dropped WinstonCup and BuschGrandNational as BabyBrianFrance has got too much of the Hollywood lights in his eyes to run the business like it was. It has become nothing more than proWrastlin' in my opinion. BUT, you'll be within two hours of the greatest track on the circuit IF Darlington Raceway is lucky enough to hang on to the single race it gets nowadays. It ain't Pocono, I'll guarentee !
I enjoy the many small tracks around the state - dirt and paved. The little guy still has the burn and desire, only on a shoestring budget. Many excellant tracks across SC and Ga.
Gas $$ seem to be about .25 - .50 lower (than your posted) at this point, and seem to be as low or lower than most of the state and all of Ga.
College football is king around here...

Your right about Nascar, who knows where its heading. I've been to Darlington twice, when it still had the Labor Day, Mountain Dew Southern 500, it was a lot of fun. Been to Pocono quite a few times, its ok, but not great. I used to love going to Daytona, till the racing got like it is now, not near as much passing. I read Darlington is going thru a multi-million dollar renovation right now, new tunnel, new paving, to assure it stays on the schedule. I like local races as well, that'll be cool to see. We don't have many here locally.

What a track !! And what a shame it has been to be unused. That's a good ride from Edgefield for a day trip and was a very cold camping weekend when on the Cup circuit (Feb). Hope it makes it ! Did AndyHillenberg end up buying the place ?

It is a shame, there was good racing there. It's a good 3 hr. ride from here but well worth the travel. Yes, Andy and his investor's purchased the track.
