Pretty amazing our net gains are half of Texas and Florida, considering how big those states are. Texas: 27 million people, 100K gain. SC, only 4.9 million people, 50K gain.
But our employee growth and median income still leaves a lot to be desired. Those need to grow as fast as our population. Infrastructure of all kinds needs to pick up statewide too.
But happy to SC isn't stuck in a rut like other states.
SC is almost like a mini-Florida with retirees driving a lot of the growth. Nothing wrong with retirees, but I just wish there was more growth among the professional class to go along with it.

The bigger problem, in my opinion, is the wages from those jobs as opposed to the number. Quality > quantity.

Well thats one problem from a statistical standpoint, when you have a large influx of retirees because a lot of times, since they are not working, their income is either not counted, or factored in in an odd way.
But your still exactly right, we need to have more professional jobs and positions moving into the state. Manufacturing is great and in many cases can pay a great wage and brings highly skilled positions, but to really see a jump and to attract more younger people, we need to have more white-collar positions coming in as well.
Property values have skyrocketed which is awesome, but that has somewhat increased COL index for SC as well which is one of our most attractive qualities for a company relocating here. Now comparing our COL even though it has increased to other places around the country, we still have a lower COL, but as SC continues to grow and property values continue to increase, HHI is going to have to keep up otherwise we wont be able to sustain this growth.
