USC Lady Gamecocks still #1 in the country. 26 game winning streak at home in Columbia. 16-0 in the season. Lead the country in attendance for women's basketball this season. 17,000 people at last game vs. Kentucky in Columbia

And, congrats to the USC Men for a SEC win, beat Alabama last night! Congrats!

The only thing is that the team and university officially removed the 'Lady' from the team's name. They are the Gamecocks.

That's correct, all USC teams have been "Gamecocks" for quite a few years. They're having quite a season.

I still call them Lady Gamecocks and I will always call them Lady Gamecocks. Who cares about this?
16-0! #1

The women's basketball team is certainly off to an excellent season.

I think Martin is going to get the boys winning here before long, even more than they are this year, but I stand by my assertion that Dawn Staley should have been promoted to men's team coach when Coach Whatshisname got fired.

I got into USC womens basketball about 3 years ago. Watching Dawn's team is inspirational and the perfect example of how every USC team should compete. They play hard and tenacious and are a feisty bunch of girls with loads of talent. They're also a smart bunch with a collective GPA of over 3.00, if I remember correctly. They're truly playing like a No. 1 team and don't be surprised to see them get VERY far in the tournament... The one thing I always think about is how I wish we could keep Dawn Staley around for another few decades- Haha. Anyone think this is a possibility? Any chance of any WNBA teams snatching her up?

WNBA coaches don't make anywhere near as much as top college coaches. Hopefully, Ray Tanner will lock Dawn into a superb, long term contract so that she coaches at USC until she retires.

Very interesting, did not know that. That would be awesome. She's already turned down a coaching vacancy at her alma mater, so really, there is a good possibility she could be here for a long, long time. If she wins it all, I could see some sort of contract enhancement, hopefully.
