Who cares if people are gay . Its there choice why do people ger so upset
we are looking to move to sc greenville area . i am married with 3 kids and as long as the people we move next to are nice i could not care if they are gay , black, bi ,yellow , pink , just be yourself and we can all get along . Think a few people get up ser because the sexuall side of the gays same sex sex . but most think its cool for two girls to do it . double standard hey .
People get up to all things at home affairs , swingers, drugs, . just do not be so quick to judge people on there sexuall preference

interesting the original poster looking for a liberal more open minded place in teh South didnt ask about racial integration, open to interracial dating as a straight person, instead asked about gay friendly like they are more progressive than other minority groups, they are not

We are an older couple planning on a move to the greenville area. After almost 30 yrs together, we are often mistaken for brothers. We live our lives in a respectful manner. Pretty much keeping to ourselves. I'm concerned about how we will be recieved in the smaller towns. Am I asking too much to find a ' live and let live attitude'?

I understand what smith7 is saying. I am a divored woman in my 40's who is considering Columbia as a destination from the Orlando area. I too would want to live where there is an accepted gay community. It is sort of a social barometer.
I have a brother who lives in Asheville and is straight but loves the fact that it is a liberal and progressive community which is accepting of openly gay people.

I am tired!!
I am tired of reading about those of us who believe and accept God's word and try to live our lifes according to the Bible are closed minded, ignorant or uneducated. I am not any of the three. If you can prove to me there is no God and that there will be no judgement day, I will be happy to listen to your beliefs. SC is in the Bible belt so if you don't like the way we live there are many states that might suit you better. I don't hate gays many of my friends are gay. I don't try to change them, I just accept them for who they are. I don't agree with them but it isn't my place to judge them, because I could be wrong. I just couldn't myself fall in love with someone that had the same equipment as me. Come on down to SC but don't try to make us feel stupid because we believe God.

Gay and lesbian couples are quite welcome here in Greenville as well. I know a few who are actively involved in business and public affairs around the city, and there are many more enjoying life here. I can understand someone from another location being somewhat hesitant about moving here, but as a longtime resident of Greenville, I can guarantee that you'll feel welcome and part of the city as much as anyone else. Many people don't really understand how this city has positively changed and is rapidly continuing to change. Before making assumptions about any city, I encourage everyone to visit for a short while to get a firsthand feel for the place. It helps to build our confidence in so many ways beyond simply taking others' advice.

I knew exactly what you original post meant, and it was refreshing to see it, so thanks again! Straight allies like you and your spouse are the sort of neighbors I would love to have, and hope always will have.
I must say one thing about the frightening intolerance and ignorance exhibited in a few of the above posts: please stay in your suburb--we don't like our environment "polluted" either.

I have been surfing the boards here this morning and after reading your post, I just have to drop my 2 cents in! Well said! Thank you!
