Default Want to open daylily nursery. Where?

Hi,

My family is thinking of moving to SC. My husband needs to be within an hour's drive or so from Columbia for work. I would like to open a small daylily nursery. I'm looking for an area in which we can buy a farm with 5 to 30 acres that will have really good schools for my pre-school son.

We would like to be near a charming small town but without the lack of amenities many small towns have. I was raised in the south and would like to find an area with that southern charm feel. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to find a place that has lots of civic things that in which we can participate with my little one.

Thanks for your time.

that's a tall order. There aren't many "small, charming small towns" that I've seen in SC. That sounds more like a New England type of thing.

But I guess you could try the Camden area, that's all that comes to mind. I would think that the upstate would have some decent options too, but I'm not as familiar with that area.

I would recommend the Edgefield/Johnston area (Edgefield County). There's plenty of land, and as a whole, it's much better priced than the city. It's about an hour from Columbia, less depending on the area you are in. Let me know if you need some more info.
