UPSTATE FOLKS....let it go. The Confederate flag needs to come down. 75% of the reps opposing it are in that Greenville/Sptbg/Anderson cluster.

Enough already. Just enough.
Let's stop pointing fingers and painting with broad strokes. The reps will do what they want even if we flood their offices with calls and emails. There are a lot of good people in the Upstate, conservative folks, who agree that it's time for the flag to be put in a museum.

And by the way:

Confirmed. A press release from the S.C. Senate “Republican” Caucus states that GOP lawmakers “voted overwhelmingly today to take up the issue of moving the Confederate Battle Flag from the (State House) grounds. In the very near future bills will be offered and the full Senate will debate and vote on this important matter.”

Why so sensitive? Are you denying the fact that of the legislators who opposed debate, all but one was from the Upstate?

LOL, sensitive...that's funny, we certainly could use some levity around here, thanks for that.

The OP acts like the "people" have a say. or all Upstate residents are against removing the flag. Sure they voted these clowns in, but if the reps don't listen, we can't recall them before the vote. For the record, my upstate rep voted yes.

Wasn't Roof from Lexington?

Did you see the knucklehead N. Charleston cop that posted a selfie of himself in confederate flag underwear? He no longer works for the NCPD.

White southern republicans get mocked by 'sophisticated' democrats for flying the american flag too much, that is 'too patriotic' and redneck, or something. I remember chris rock calling us rednecks for too much american flag and patriotism after 9-11.

The american flag is the main flag you see in sc or other points in the south. This observation alone undermines the democrat's attempt to race bait on the flag and exploit this mass murder for political purposes.

Clemson and sc college kids, if they have a flag sticker on their car, it is typically orange and black/garner versions of the sc state flag which was not a confederate flag.

Why don't we demand the use of the democrat party name be stopped? The democrat party was basically the political wing of the kkk back in the day, presided over slavery, jim crow, segregation, and they even opposed anti-lynching laws. It is amazing to me that a major political party, and one that gets most of the black vote, still chooses to fly under that name, while complaining about the confederate flag, which their governor ernest hollings put on the state house in the first place.

The white terrorist was pictured burning an american flag and trampling on another, which is more typical of a democrat youth than a republican youth.

The greatest irony is while we have these democrats trying to use a mass murder as a political prop, they support abortion, which is slaughtering thousands of babies every year. Where can i go if i want to attend a vigil for the babies who lose their life in the womb as the result of a heinous procedure? Oh, that's right, there are no vigils for them.

No confederate flag ever ended a baby's life. But what is society talking about? The flag. Crickets on abortion.

Just as democrats supported and faciliated slavery, segregation, jim crow back in the day, they enable and facilitate abortions now. One day, society will look back and view abortion much like we view slavery and segregation today, as something so horrible that it is surreal a large number of people went along with it.

Isn't it amazing that a group of people who are so eager to falsely place the kkk hood on white republicans, to demonize us, who always act so holier than thou, have no problem with abortion, and belong to a party whose name is synonymous with white supremacy and terrorisism?

When has any democrat criticized clinton for starting a robert e lee day in arkansas, or supporting the addition of the star to their state flag that indicates the confederacy? When did democrats denounce clinton for giving his mentor william fullbright, a racist segregationist in his day who helped produced the racist southern manifesto, the presidential medal of freedom and calling him a great 'visionary'?

Democrats even had the audacity to describe clinton as the 'first black president', despite his obvious pandering to white racists.

Why has the democrat party never denounced itself for running clinton and gore, both the proteges or sons of segregationists? It is all the more insulting given the democrat party relies on black voters yet they have no shame in running white men who were mentored by segregationists.

When is the last time democrats denounced lbj for his vicious racist comments about blacks? It has never happened.

Flying under the democrat name is no different than flying under the isis name or kkk or stalin or nazis. There is no greater historic symbol of white terrorism than the democratic party name. The confederate flag was their banner.

As the distinguished mark steyn has observed, the south african apartheid party no longer exists, it only lasted 45 years or so. Yet the democratic party is still going strong. Still exploiting race to their political advantage.
lol
