Yes, and up North they open-mindedly ignore all strangers, equally.
I've never had any issues with being accepted anywhere in the South, and I'm not even American.
I was definitely embraced by most people I met;
but maybe it helped that I hate cold, love taking with complete strangers and eating fried foods.

Meaning, through assimilation, we are a united front, black, white, short, tall, democrat, republican, indian, irish, etc; we are together, live together, work together, party together. You need to learn to accept others for who they are, just as you'd expect others to accept you for who you are. You are more than welcomed to visit or live in our great state, if you so desire, that's the great thing about these UNITED States. God bless you, Ava (from the great Northern State of NH ).

It reminds me of a very old and favorite song:
"This land is your land.
This land is my land.
...this land was made for you AND me."
Great song, and great advice for people who may think wherever they live belongs to only them.

Great opportunity to cook! You can make all those dishes in your own kitchen. We make pizza every weekend here at home and after a few years we're so good that no Italian restaurant can possibly compete.
P.S. The secret is extra virgin olive oil and drained, freshly roasted tomatoes.
Bon appetit'

Eating fat doesn't make you fat, eating too much calories does! It's all about the portions.
(Cows are pretty big and they eat grass!)
I've always been thin and very active.
I enjoy salads, fruits and vegetables as well as meats, breads, dairy, chocolate, snack foods and fried foods.
I imagine if I lived there I would not eat most Southern-fried specialties on a regular basis, maybe at the most once a week.
But grits and fresh brewed iced tea are good for you, so I'd probably have plenty of both on a regular basis.

I did not say wether it was fat or calories. I am speaking of FACTS only. Southern states are the most obese and there diet including frying everything from a chicken tender to a pickle, is a part of it.

Is that one of the reasons you don't feel welcome is because you are disgusted by fat people and/or favorite snacks of fat people?
If so, I'm happy you weren't accomodated.

It doesn't bother me if other adults choose to be inactive and/or snack too much.
That's their choice, and I respect their freedom as well as my own.
It would only bother me if I had children and where we lived, no other children wanted to play outside with mine. Like all of them prefering to stay indoors, even on nice days to play video games or the internet.
Then I'd rant.

True, but you won't get many smiles with an attitude like that.
