Me and my fiance are looking to relocate to the south with our 2 year old son to escape the high cost and harsh winters of New England. We currently live in mass and I hate it here. Horrible gun laws and extremely high cost of living. Were both interested in South Carolina and I'm wondering where I would be most likely to find a decent job. I'm a blue collar worker currently in manufacturing of custom molded composites. (Plastics) but I'm open to just about anything that pays decent. So can anyone tell me any affordable areas I'd be able to find a decent job without a degree? Also needs to have a decent school system. Thanks

I'll suggest looking at Spartanburg and Greenville. I use the job search engine Indeed.com , and there were numerous injection molding jobs, eg at Detroit Forming. The catch is they pay a little over $10/hour. (I assume you get paid more in New England.)
If you can set-up and train other workers, the pay could be $27/hour. People with Associate Degrees are paid more, accordingly, so it might help to finish a degree.

Where in South Carolina have you considered working or residing in?
Overall the job market is strong in SC but without specialized skills the average wage is very low. As as example, production line workers in places like Boeing, BMW, make about $14 to $16 per hour. A yearly salary of over $35K is considered a good salary in SC.

You'd have the most luck in the urban areas, particularly the Upstate (Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson), Charleston, Columbia, Florence, and Aiken/North Augusta (which is just outside of Augusta, GA).

Most likely? The upstate of SC, or around Charlotte.
But if I was in your shoes I'd find a job first, and then move to somewhere close to that job. I would not randomly pick a location and hope to find work.
Of course, no one ever seems to take this advice.
