I have a large pond that is 25 ft long and about 8 ft long in the center. Recently I have come in contact with a reddish/brown snake. He's about 3' long and very skiddish. He used to hang out on top of my pond's filter, which made it hard for me to clean. I would yell at him and he would leave. Now I find him hanging on top of the lily pads eating the minnow fish I have.
I have attached a picture. Can someone please tell me what kind of snake this is? Do I need to be worried?

Pic is a bit blurry but his marking resemble a young Banded water snake. They are common here in the Carolinas and Georgia.
They aren't poisonous but are notorious fish eaters

Hard to tell by the pic but you may be able to better identify by visiting the SC DNR common snakes web page in the link below, complete with photos there to help. There are only 6 venomous snakes common to SC.

SCDNR - Wildlife Information - SC Snakes

And another site here:
Snakes of South Carolina and Georgia | SREL Herpetology

I can't zoom in to see it's head. If it's triangle shaped with lined eyes, it's venomous. If it's head is rounded with round eyes, then it's just a common water snake.
