Most people leave a city because it's not for them. Most New Yorkers live here because they love it. The complaints about NYC life are nearly always about the cost of living (esp. escalating apt. rents and house prices). That will be the only reason I ever leave. If you like real American cities like Atlanta or Charlotte, you tend to move there. I wouldn't want to live in either.

I know. I've lived in both cities. Actually lived in Greenville first, then moved to Charleston, back to Greenville, and then should be back to Charleston in a few weeks.

I just don't get why people get so uptight when comparing the two.

It was posted to gloat. You guys like it, but it's not for everyone. Could be posted in the forum where people care the most. Charleston.

the main appeal of Charleston and Savannah is that they are near the beach and aren't typical office park cities like Charlotte or Jacksonville or tacky beach towns like Myrtle Beach.

I would have Savannah above Charleston, more trees and the little park squares are cool.

It is also in the Charleston forum. It's important because more tourists equal more tax dollars for the state.

The other cities are just as important and bring in just as much. Maybe more looking at GDP. It's good for Charleston tourism, not so much up here. This is a gloat post. Happens often.
