Are there any 55+ communities in the Aiken/Augusta area? We might be relocating to the area for a job and would like to consider 55+ communities.

Another BIG concern for us in retirement is health care. Any comments on health care in the area?

Thank you.

Where in Aiken are you considering to relocate?

Aiken Regional Medical Centers appears to be the major healthcare provider in Aiken.

Aiken has a good hsopital, and Augusta has good facilities including a hospital associated with Uni of Georgia's medical college.

Woodside Plantation, a private golf course neighborhood, in Aiken is popular with older people. they have some restaurants, etc out there.

Thank you for the replies.

My husband is looking at a possible job in Augusta, but no particular area is written in stone. I will look at Woodside Plantation.

We are looking for a neighborhood/community to buy a home, not rent. Friends recently relocated to Florida and found many places to tour/visit and ultimately purchased a home in a Del Webb community. We have other friends in The Villages, FL. These are the types of 55+/retirement communities I am hoping to find.
