I also heard The Peddler had really good food but I have never ate there.

Plus if you live a mile from there, you should have an awareness of the tax dollars that are pumped into your community and state from South Of The Border. Think of the jobs and revenue that would be lost if it closed. Lastly, the place has been there since 1950 so it must be doing something right. Good luck to South of the Border -- keep snagging those travelers off I-95 to spend money in South Carolina!

Yea but they aren't doing anything with the money. That's the thing. The money that they do bring in, they could at least try to fix up the place or at least use it for the surrounding community.

I live about 1 mile from here as well and I can honestly say that before the owner passed this place used to get a lot of business, but it's been going downhill since. Most days you pass by and it's dull now. Before, you could pass by and it was a lot livelier, even during off-seasons. It was always tacky and that was a part of it's charm, but now it's just more run-down.

Remember, the orginial owner has passed. The heirs might not be as motivated to maintain the place; particularly, since they have branched out into so many other venures, i.e., Blenheim Ginger Ale, real estate, etc.

But I'm talking about the tax revenue that is generated. Over the past 50-60ish years, that's a lot of money that the county would not have seen otherwise.
