Pedro's South of the Border--Dillon SC
So what can y'all tell me about this place? I have seen their website and it looks like a fun place to visit. I like the tacky touristy type places.
Anybody been there, and what are the restaurants like?

If you like tacky touristy places you will LOVE South of the border. You can buy all kinds of cheap junk, play video games, get indigestion, you name it. I have only eaten junk food there, so I can't help you with the quality of the restaurants.

Amen to that! I remember as a kid being the the family driving down I-95. We knew we were getting close when we started to see the South of the Border billboards. It has really grown over the years from the little gas & restaurant it started out as. Now they have a small amusement park & a bunch of knick knack stores etc. They must pay a fortune for those billboards, too. Anyone have a count on how many there are? There has be a few hundred.

It isn't anything fantastic, but like others have said, if you like tacky touristy places you'll love South of the Border. Have fun!

Years ago SOB was a great tourist trap and the tackiness just made it that much more of a lure to stop. These days it's far from being great and more of just a trap. It's really run down and just kinda funky in general. Stop and gawk and get you a few bumper stickers or something, and keep going.

I think they own the billboard company so they probably don't spend as much as they normally would if they didn't.
They story of SOB is a great read as to how it came about and grew.

Thank you all for your advice and help. I definitely want to see this place when I go down to Myrtle Beach this spring.

And it does look like a big butt. I go there a good bit (I'm about 50 miles away) to the music store and occasionally the outlet mall.
